Professional Profile
Immaculate
Auma.
Communications strategist
and documentary storyteller.
A listening ear. A deliberate voice.
A story that stays.
Immaculate Auma is a Ugandan communications strategist and documentary storyteller with a background in journalism. Her work connects public-interest stories with the people they concern. She brings together editorial judgement, a host’s instinct for conversation and the practical follow-through that keeps people engaged.
As Communications Lead at Elevate School of Mastery, she plans communications and creates multimedia content, learner stories and campaigns around leadership, public speaking and digital literacy. Alongside learner feedback and coach coordination, she initiated a reading club for two learners, with 30-minute daily sessions and individual follow-up adapted to their work and family schedules.
She also volunteers with MEMPROW Girls Network on Bridging Feminist Voices, coordinating communications across partner organisations. She has hosted two MEMPROW events, including a leadership handover ceremony.
Previously, as Communications and Operations Lead at the Climate Inclusion Network, she hosted fortnightly X Spaces for more than a year, coordinated workshops and stakeholder communication, and documented community outreach. Her earlier newsroom experience was an editorial internship at Vision Group, including New Vision. She has also hosted a national dialogue on sexual harassment policy reform in Uganda’s higher-learning institutions.
Her documentary, A Nation Living on Borrowed Time, was published on the Social Documentary Network. During her earlier communications volunteer role at ILONA Children Education Centre, she created a digital archive, supported website development and launched social media pages. Her stories contributed to the Centre’s fundraising communications; it secured funding for one year of activities. She also used poetry, debates and conversations to support girls’ self-expression.
A First-Class Honours graduate in Journalism, Media & Communication from Uganda Christian University, she is completing master’s studies in African Studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, with completion expected in March 2027. Her fieldwork focuses on public-speaking classes for professionals and students. She has trained with Cameras for Girls. Her next chapter includes developing Sisters Circle: a proposed 12-week pilot for 12 women, built around reflection, goal-setting and accountability. The initiative remains in development.
She is drawn to work that gives African perspectives, women’s voices and community experience a meaningful place in public conversation.
